Paul Harris, Director

With vast experience in building technology, Paul, the former NZ Sales Manager for Clipsal Integrated Systems, is celebrated for his innovative problem-solving.

An advisor of choice for consultants, contractors, and clients, he’s integral to IEL’s estimating team in Auckland.

Balancing work with leisure at their lakeside home near Auckland, Paul and Nikki enjoy walks, gardening, and quality time with their grandchildren. Despite their Mangawhai base, they remain actively involved in Northland projects, showcasing Paul’s technical acumen and interpersonal finesse in the industry.

Nikki Harris, Director

Nikki graduated with a degree in psychology and education. She has many years of experience in leading teams, with varied roles in media, business training, and management.

Nikki’s role is varied and includes responsibility for strategy, forecasting, budgets, HR, and marketing (much preferring the latter two). If you ask, she will tell you she wears the hats no one else wants!

Living and working with your husband can have its challenges. Nevertheless, this couple has made it work and still seem to enjoy each other’s company! (“Most of the time” adds Nikki.)

Rebecca Harris, GM

Rebecca, or Bex, wears multiple hats as the General Manager at IEL, overseeing daily operations and leading technical initiatives. Recognised for her technical prowess, she ensures engineers are well-versed in cutting-edge technologies.

Recently honored with the “Highest Award for Achievement” at a Dale Carnegie course, Bex also heads the “IEL Knowledge Centre,” offering seminars on building technology, particularly DALI-2.

An avid participant in Crossfit and fitness, she balances work with socialising and family time, playing a pivotal role in IEL’s succession plan.

Manu Bhagwanji

Manu Bhagwanji, Auckland native, holds a BSc/BTech from Auckland University and has over 15 years of IT experience as an engineer and project manager.

He’s spearheaded various education and commercial projects, including those for the Christchurch rebuild. Transitioning to the controls industry, he led numerous successful IEL projects, notably Commercial Bay.Beyond work, he enjoys sports, music, and photography, though capturing a photo of himself proved challenging!

 

Ian Rose

With over 15 years in the lighting controls industry, Ian Rose, based at the IEL Wellington office, brings invaluable expertise to national projects. Originally in electrical, his transition into building technology, backed by a Bachelor of Computer Systems, positioned him as a controls specialist.

Ian relishes the diversity of designing, pricing, and implementing commercial projects, managing them end-to-end.

Beyond work, he prioritises family time, mountain biking, and balancing house renovations and gardening pursuits.

Emma Holgerus

With over 6 years’ experience in managing teams, Emma Holgerus is a TechIES member of the IESANZ and has a background in spatial and lighting design.

After graduating from University of the Arts in London she realised she had a knack for organising tasks, along with a passion for people and client outcomes.

Emma is now a Project Support for Intelligent Environments. Her focus will be on proactively managing relationships with customers “post project” to provide the level of service we would all like to receive but seldom encounter.

Debbie Rabl

Handling accounts and payroll with precision, Debbie Rabl ensures timely payments to suppliers, employees, and efficient customer invoicing. With extensive experience across industries in New Zealand, Australia, and the UK,

Debbie’s role is crucial to the financial flow of the company. Outside the office, she immerses herself in reading and tending to her “artfully unkempt garden.” Residing in a coastal village in the Waitakere Ranges, Debbie’s passion for overseas travel is evident in her photo enjoying escargot and sipping Pinot Gris.

Sanjiv Gounder

Sanjiv Gounder, a young member of the IEL family, exudes maturity and professionalism. Known for his infectious enthusiasm and ever-present smile, Sanjiv, also a recently married man, occasionally adopts a serious demeanor.

As a controls specialist, he actively engages in projects from design to on-site commissioning. His expertise lies in troubleshooting and crafting creative solutions.

A distinguished graduate in electrical engineering, he received an award for his innovative final year project—a solar-powered irrigation system.

Michelle Leach

Michelle Leach looks after our CAD department and is responsible for producing our lighting control drawings.

Originally from an IT background, she realised her passion for interior design, by completing her studies in this subject with a Commercial Design elective.

Outside of work, Michelle’s recently taken up a brand new hobby by way of sewing, and now it’s just a matter of finding the time to make all the wonderful projects brewing in her head! She also loves spending time with family and watching her little girl grow more every day.

Andrew Thompson

Andrew Thompson, our Sales Engineer in the IEL Wellington office, boasts 20 years of expertise in the Lighting Control industry.

With an extensive background in Australia and New Zealand, he’s well-versed in all market systems, collaborating with consultants for project design and delivery.

Beyond work, Andy indulges his passion for sailing and kayaking around Mana Island and Porirua Harbour.

Recently settling in Wellington with his wife Bronwyn, he’s gearing up for the joys of home maintenance.

Carolyn Morgan

Meet Carolyn Morgan, Logistics Coordinator at Intelligent Environments.

With a wealth of experience in procurement and production projects, Carolyn ensures seamless material acquisition and inventory management. Her dedication to efficiency guarantees swift turnaround times for project materials.

Beyond her professional role, Carolyn leads a bustling family life with three children, two dogs, and a cat. Despite her busy schedule, she finds time to contribute to the ice skating community as a senior figure skating judge.

Bel Arevalo

Bel Arevalo, originally from Chile, spent eight adventurous years in Canada, where her passion for travel and snowboarding took precedence over her Commercial Aviation degree.

Now a permanent resident of NZ, she has transitioned into the role of Control Specialist, bringing valuable technical skills to our delivery team. Committed to achieving excellence in projects, Bel approaches every task with enthusiasm and a contagious positive spirit. In her free time, she explores the beauty of New Zealand, seizing every opportunity to experience the country.

Jason Allen

Jason Allen, leading zencontrol representative in the South Island and project manager for IEL, passionately advocates for zencontrol’s cutting-edge controls technology.

He generously shares his expertise with consultants and electrical contractors, ensuring optimal outcomes for customers.

Beyond work, Jason indulges in his love for cycling and contributes to para-cycling coaching at the national level. He also finds solace in exploring the picturesque Canterbury hills during occasional runs, embracing the stunning New Zealand landscape.
