As EECA Business Programme Partners we are also able to access grants and subsidies for companies who would like to reduce the energy use in their building, but are finding it hard to allocate the necessary capital. A Commercial Project Grant from EECA may fund up to 40% of the cost of your energy efficiency project.
Commercial buildings in New Zealand in many cases waste energy every day, creating unnecessary extra costs. You may be the tenant in such a building, or you may own or manage one. Energy efficient buildings cost less to run and are more comfortable, thus holding their value longer.
Buildings eligible for Commercial Project grants include offices, warehouses, retail outlets, medical facilities, hotels, supermarkets, educational establishments, etc. The grants may be used for:
- audit and works: upgrades or replacement of equipment such as lighting, refrigeration, air-conditioning and heating
- continuous commissioning: systems such as lighting control that adjust energy use in your building on a continuous basis, according to demand
- monitoring and targeting: systems that monitor energy use and identify areas where improvements can be made - helpful in identifying additional cost effective upgrades

Growing in popularity is the financing of energy saving initiatives via an operating lease.
